The 8th Inter-Zonal Youth Festival, ‘Hindola-2025’, commenced with great enthusiasm at Indira Gandhi University (IGU), Rewari, on Monday. Bawal MLA Dr Krishan Kumar attended as the chief guest, while Ch Ranbir Singh University Jind Vice-Chancellor Prof Rampal Saini was present as the special guest.
Prof Karan Singh, Dean (Student Welfare), said students from 34 colleges across Rewari and Mahendragarh districts would compete in 48 events during the festival. IGU Vice-Chancellor Prof Aseem Miglani highlighted the university’s recent academic and cultural achievements, expressing confidence that selected teams would go on to represent the university at state- and national-level youth festivals.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Dr Krishan Kumar said the youth festival was not merely a cultural occasion but a platform for honing one’s artistic abilities with skill, discipline and excellence.
The opening day saw a vibrant range of competitions across multiple venues. Stage 1 hosted Creative Choreography, One Act Play, Haryanvi Short Film and Mimicry. Stage 2 featured Western Instrument Solo, Nukkad Natak, Haryanvi Solo Dance (Male) and Haryanvi Solo Dance (Female). At Stage 3, in the Kalpana Chawla Auditorium, participants competed in Folk Orchestra, Western Group Song and Haryanvi Group Song.
Vivekananda Bhavan, marked as Stage 4, showcased Classical Vocal Solo, Classical Instrument Solo, Western Vocal Solo and Punjabi Poetic categories. Stage 6 at Sardar Patel Bhavan included On-the-Spot Painting, Clay Modelling, Cartooning and other fine arts contests.
