The International Foundation for Sustainable Development in Africa and Asia (IFSDDA) has honoured Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) Vice-Chancellor BR Kamboj with the lifetime achievement award. This award recognises his contributions to agricultural research, education and extension. The HAU VC was conferred the award under the joint aegis of IFSDDA, Germany; the African-Asian Studies Promotion Association, Mahatma Gandhi House, Göttingen, Germany; and SSARM.
Kamboj, who has been serving as the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity since April 16, 2021, has previously held various key positions — including HAU Registrar, and acting Vice-Chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology. His contributions to agriculture have also earned him the MS Swaminathan Award. HAU has received the ‘A+’ grade by the National Agricultural Education Accreditation Board (NAEB) under ICAR during his tenure as VC.
The university has been ranked 3rd among agricultural universities and 7th among institutions in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2024. HAU scientists have developed and approved 50 new crop varieties in recent years.
