Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first domestic flight service from Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to Ayodhya at around 10:15 am on Monday, coinciding with Ambedkar Jayanti. He will also lay the foundation stone for a modern terminal building at the airport.

The new terminal will be constructed under the supervision of the Airports Authority of India at an estimated cost of Rs 503 crore. The upcoming infrastructure includes a 37,790 sq mt passenger terminal, a 2,235 sq mt cargo terminal, and an advanced Air Traffic Control tower. The second phase is expected to be completed by April 17, 2027.

The Prime Minister will also address a public rally in Hisar as part of the programme.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited the venue on Saturday evening to oversee final preparations. Earlier, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi and other senior officials conducted a detailed review of the rally venue, airport premises, and logistics, including security, traffic management, media facilities, and guest arrangements.

“The airport will not only benefit Hisar but also the surrounding districts. It will significantly boost regional trade, tourism, and investment,” said Rastogi. He urged officials to ensure flawless execution of the event.

The airport has received the required licence for commercial operations, with flight services soon to be launched for Jammu, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh (three flights per week each) and Ayodhya (two flights per week).

A broader integrated aviation hub is being developed over 7,200 acres —4,200 acres for the airport and 3,000 for an industrial manufacturing cluster.

Originally developed in 1965 and operational since 1967, the Hisar airfield has seen limited success in earlier attempts to initiate commercial services. Flights launched in 2019 under the UDAN scheme were discontinued within seven months.

To facilitate public movement during the event, over 300 buses have been arranged, including 40 mini-buses for shuttle services and five electric buses assigned for VIP/VVIP transport.
