Hisar college reigns at 'Prabodhini' festival

‘Prabodhini’, the 13th university-level youth festival of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, concluded recently with the Dayanand College, Hisar, winning the overall trophy. The University Teaching Department (UTD) at GJUST was named the runners-up.

Dayanand College bagged trophies for theatre, fine-arts and dance events, while UTD GJUST won trophies in the music and literary categories.

In the Hindi skit contest, a Dayanand College student bagged the best actor award for his portrayal of ‘papa’, while a UTD GJUST student was awarded the best actress honour for her portrayal of ‘Barfi Javed’.

In the Haryanvi skit contest, a CRM Jat College, Hisar, student bagged the best actor award for the role of ‘sangi’, while, for her portrayal of ‘budia’, a Dayanand College, Hisar, student bagged the best actress award.

In the one-act play (Sanskrit) contest, a Government PG College, Hisar, was crowned best actor, while a UTD GJUST student won the best actress award.

In the one-act play (Hindi) contest, the portrayal of ‘Bhagat Singh (statue)’ won a Government PG College, Hisar, student the best actor award, while a Dayanand College, Hisar, student won the best actress award for the ‘Juliet (main)’ role.

Vice-Chancellor Narsi Ram Bishnoi, the chief guest, and Registrar Vijay Kumar, the guest of honour, were present at the award-distribution event. The Vice-Chancellor said the festival was a confluence of cultural activities, youth power, energy, discipline, and Indian values.

It was essential for students to participate in cultural and other activities alongside their education, he added, saying opportunities on such platforms fostered all-round development.

He said continuous effort was the first step to success, igniting a new spark of self-confidence.

The VC urged participants to continue playing a strong role in carrying forward the essence of their culture to future generations, and congratulated the participants and organisers, wishing them a bright future.

The Registrar said the cultural enthusiasm displayed during the three-day youth festival was unforgettable.

Students displayed their artistic skill, enthusiasm, and discipline brilliantly, he added, saying this enthusiasm, discipline, and self-confidence would help achieve the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

Comedian Azad Singh Duhan used humour as a tool to draw attention to social evils such as female foeticide.
