Vasudha Sharma, a resident of Subhash Nagar in Hisar town, has been selected in the Combined Defence Services (CDS). She has got 9th rank in the merit list of 91 women candidates who cleared SSB interview. She has been selected in her first attempt.
Her father Praveen Kumar Sharma said they were elated to see the result that was declared yesterday. “She has a fascination for defence forces and started nursing her passion to serve the Army when she was in Class IX. Though we wanted her to pursue research and become a research scientist, seeing her passion we allowed her to prepare for the Army,” Praveen Kumar said. He is a senior professor of chemistry in an academy in the town. Her mother is a housewife.
Vasudha passed Class XII from St Sophia Senior Secondary School, Hisar, and completed her BSc Honours (computer science) from Delhi University and MSc, computer science, from Chennai Mathematical Institute. She says the credit for her success goes to her parents who left no stone unturned in making her dream come true.
Besides, guidance from General Ranjit Singh (retired) also played an important role. She will go to the Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai, for her training in April next.
