Hisar: International wrestler Antim Panghal was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the annual ‘LUVAS Kabaddi League’ at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) on Tuesday. The chief guest, while addressing participants, said sports not only kept people healthy but also brought discipline to their lives. Such festivals should be organised in schools too, she said. The final match of the league was played between Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary and Livestock Development Diploma (VLDD). VLDD (II) won by 53-25. In the tug of war competition fourth year girls and boys secured the first place. A total of 10 teams participated in the event.

Refresher course on research

Hisar: A refresher course on ‘research management’ is being conducted at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU). The teaching faculty of the HAU and Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) are participating in this three-week refresher course being organised by the directorate of human resource management of the university. While inaugurating the course, Vice-Chancellor Professor BR Kamboj urged scientists to make every possible effort to prioritise research. He said research must be prioritised even for small landholding farmers to increase production at lesser costs. He urged all the participants to submit at least one project during the training in mutual coordination. He expressed hope regarding the refresher course playing an important role in providing agricultural scientists new techniques, and solutions.

Capacity building for faculty

Mahendragarh: Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, is organising a capacity building programme for it’s social science faculty from July 22 to August 3. The programme is being organised by the commerce department in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Vice-Chancellor Professor Tankeshwar Kumar was the chief guest at the inaugural programme.

Chair set up at tech varsity

Hisar: The Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, has set up a chair in the name of the RSS ideologue Dattopant Thengadi, Founder of Swadeshi Jagran Manch at the university. A lecture was organised at the university on the occasion on Tuesday. Central executive member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Indresh Kumar was the chief guest and keynote speaker at the event.
