Congress Hisar MP Jai Parkash has come under criticism after making a controversial statement on women, prompting the Women Commission of Haryana to issue notice to him.

During a public meeting in Kalayat, where his son Vikas Saharan is contesting the elections, Jai Parkash can be seen, a video of which went viral on social media, making a derogatory comment on women. He said: “If leaders can be made with lipstick and powder then I should apply it myself. Why should I even keep a beard?”

Condemning the use of such language, commission chairperson Renu Bhatia said: “We have asked Jai Parkash to submit a reply on this.”
