Residents of several posh sectors of the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) in Hisar have alleged gross negligence by the authorities concerned in solving problems of stray cattle, monkey menace, choked sewerage lines and heaps of garbage lying on vacant sites in the sectors.

Ex-Mayor Gautam Sardana meets protesting residents in Hisar.

The resident welfare associations (RWAs) of Sectors 14, 14 (Part 2) and 33 raised the issue with the district administration, demanding immediate measures to resolve their problems. The RWAs have also submitted memoranda of their issues several times.

The outgoing Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Gautam Sardana, met members of the resident welfare associations (RWAs) of various sectors on Saturday, saying that he had taken note of their problems and had spoken to DC Pradeep Dahiya about the issues. Sardana said Dahiya had assured him that action would be taken on all issues raised by the RWAs.

The RWAs, in a fresh memorandum to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pradeep Dahiya, demanded that the stray cattle menace had been growing day by day in these sectors. Stray cows, horses , dogs and monkeys have been roaming the residential areas. These animals have caused accidents several times and also posed a threat of attack by monkeys and dogs.

They also demanded a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles inside the sectors as a number of trucks passed through their sector roads to shorten their long route via the Hisar bypass.

Ajay Jindal, president of the RWA of Sector 14, said the private bus operators had made a point at the main entrance of Sector 14 for parking to pick up passengers. This unauthorised parking must be removed as it causes traffic jams, he said.

Jindal also demanded the cleaning of the sewerage lines as most of the sewerage system remained choked during the monsoon season. He said it had been a long time since these sewerage lines had been cleaned.

Dharamvir Pannu, president of the RWA of Sector 33, said the entire locality was infested with a number of garbage dumping sites. Almost every empty space and plot had been turned into a garbage dumping spot. The Municipal Corporation must take note of the problem and clean these garbage sites and also start door-to-door collection of garbage in the sector.

Satish Goyal, a resident, said there was also a need to install CCTVs in the sectors which would help the police administration to maintain law and order in a better way. Recently, a number of incidents of theft in houses and shops had occurred in these sectors. The CCTVs would not only help the police track such cases but also prove a deterrent to the miscreants, he said.

The outgoing Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Hisar Gautam Sardana met the RWAs of these sectors yesterday. Sardana said he took note of their problems and also talked to the DC Pradeep Dahiya about the issues. Sardana said Dahiya had assured him that action would be taken on all the issues raised by the RWAs.
