The Nayab Singh Saini-led government has brought some relief to Hisar residents with the Surya Nagar Railway Overbridge (RoB) and Under-Bridge (RuB) project finally getting underway. However, several other long-pending projects remain stalled due to bureaucratic hurdles.

The long-awaited Surya Nagar RoB and RuB was finally inaugurated by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on November 25, marking a significant milestone. The project, which commenced five years ago, suffered multiple delays due to missed deadlines. With a total length of 1,185 metres and an investment of Rs 79.40 crore, the new RoB and RuB have significantly improved connectivity between the old city and newer residential sectors such as 1, 4 and 5, while also facilitating smoother access to the airport, Delhi bypass and Surya Nagar locality.

Despite this progress, several crucial development projects remain mired in red tape. The re-development of Town Park continues to drag on, though an official from the Municipal Corporation Hisar said, "Work is in progress, but it may take a few more months before it is finally opened to the public."

Traffic congestion also remains a pressing issue. During the previous government, former minister Kamal Gupta had proposed shifting the town's bus stand to an outer location and constructing an elevated highway to alleviate traffic snarls. However, both proposals faced stiff resistance and were eventually shelved.

Arun Sihag, a social activist, stressed the urgency of shifting the bus stand, stating, "Moving the bus stand to the town’s outskirts is crucial for easing traffic congestion." However, opposition from local shopkeepers and traders, fearing a negative impact on their businesses, led to a deadlock. The new MLA of Hisar backed their concerns, effectively stalling the proposal.

The proposed shifting of the Civil Hospital has also been caught in bureaucratic delays. Hospital authorities had identified a new site at the Delhi bypass and forwarded the proposal to the head office, but it has yet to receive government approval.

While the Nayab Singh Saini government has achieved progress on some fronts, the fate of several key infrastructure projects remains uncertain, leaving residents hoping for quicker action in the coming months.
