Kanwariyas blocked a road in Radaur town of Yamunanagar district today after a bus hit a ‘kanwar’ (water container) of a kanwariya. The kanwar fell and the water collected from the Ganga river (Gangajal) spilled on the road.

The kanwariyas offer the water collected from the river to lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivratri in temples of their villages.

Mahinder Singh, SHO, Radaur police station, said some kanwariyas were going towards Ladwa town of Kurukshetra district in the morning. When they reached near the grain market of Radaur town, one side of a Haryana Roadways bus touched the kanwar of a kanwariya. He said the kanwar fell down and broke, due to which the holy water spilled on the road.

He added that after the incident, the kanwariyas blocked the Yamunanagar-Radaur-Ladwa road in anger but they lifted the blockade after 10-15 minutes when they were requested not to disrupt the traffic.

He said no action had been taken against any person.
