Mahendragarh, February 7
Four persons were hit by a “speeding” car at Kanina town here on Tuesday night. Three of them succumbed to the injuries while the car driver fled, leaving behind the car.
The deceased have been identified as Yogesh, Bablu and Surender, alias Soni, of Kanina town while the condition of the injured — Sajjan — is stated to be out of danger. The police have started investigation after registering a case under Sections 304A, 337 and 279 of the IPC.
As per the FIR, the mishap took place around 11 pm when the four were going back home after attending a wedding at a banquet hall located on the Gahda Road in Kanina. They were walking on the roadside when the car hit them from behind. Some passersby informed the police who rushed to the spot and took the injured to a hospital where Yogesh and Bablu were declared brought dead while Surender was referred to the PGIMS in Rohtak due to his critical condition, but he, too, succumbed to his injuries after some time.
Kamaldeep, SHO, City Police Station, Kanina, said the car owner had been identified through its registration number while efforts were being made to ascertain who was driving the car at the time of the incident. The bodies were handed over to their kin today after a post-mortem examination, he added.
