Hoardings go in Kurukshetra too

With the model code of conduct coming into force, the publicity material, hoardings and banners related to political parties are being removed in the district.

Employees of the civic bodies have removed hundreds of hoardings and banners from various locations.

An official said as per the guidelines, the posters and hoardings of political parties need to be removed within 24 hours of the announcement of the model code of conduct from government buildings, within 48 hours from public places, and within 72 hours from private properties. All existing hoardings are being removed as per the directions. The political parties have been told that spaces would be earmarked for posting publicity material. Everyone will be allowed to post promotional material at the designated place only, as per the guidelines. The political parties have to seek permission before installing hoardings and banners.

Kurukshetra City Magistrate Dr Raman Gupta said that the work of removing publicity material is going on in full swing in the urban and rural areas of Kurukshetra district. Separate teams have been formed in cities and rural areas for the removal of publicity material under the under the supervision of block development and panchayat officers in rural areas and executive officers of municipal councils and secretaries of Municipal committees in urban areas.

Besides this, the block education officers have been directed to remove the slogans and wall paintings regarding the achievements of the government.

Meanwhile, Ambala district administration also held meetings with the representatives of political parties and district officials and asked them to ensure that all the guidelines of the Model Code of Conduct were followed strictly.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, said “We held meetings with the representatives of the political parties and also the district officials and they have been given directions related to the model code of conduct. The political parties will not be allowed to hold any rally or public meeting without permission and they will be allowed to hold gatherings at designated places only. As many as 968 booths have been established for Assembly election in the district.”
