Hooda accuses govt of favouring outsiders in state recruitment
Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has criticised the BJP-led state government for allegedly denying employment opportunities to local youth. He said Haryana residents should have the first right over jobs in the state.
“If other states give priority to their locals, why doesn’t Haryana’s BJP government do the same?” Hooda questioned, alleging that the state tops the country in unemployment and the youth of Haryana need jobs the most.
Hooda pointed to the recent recruitment of Assistant Engineers in the Irrigation Department as an example. “Out of 42 general category posts, 28 were given to candidates from outside the state. This is highly condemnable,” he said, adding that 70% of Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) jobs are going to non-Haryana residents.
The Congress leader accused the government of systematically sidelining locals. “From SDOs and BDPOs to Electricity Department lecturers, the injustice continues. In the Assistant Environmental Engineer recruitment, Haryana GK has been removed from the syllabus. Even non-domicile candidates are allowed to appear for HCS,” he added.
He cited more examples: “In Civil Judge recruitment, 60 out of 110 posts went to outsiders. In the Technical Education Department, 106 of 153 general posts went to non-locals. In the Ayurvedic Medical Officer recruitment, 75% of 427 selected candidates were from outside, ignoring Haryana’s gold medalists and university toppers.”
Hooda also criticised the dilution of domicile requirements. “The BJP reduced the condition from 15 years to just 5 years, making it easier for outsiders to claim Haryana jobs — even reserved ones.”
He said while other BJP-ruled states strengthen local job policies and increase state-specific GK in exams, Haryana is moving in the opposite direction.
