Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday blamed the BJP government for Haryana’s deepening unemployment crisis, saying it has pushed thousands of families into financial ruin.
“Thousands of illegal immigrants are being humiliatingly expelled from the US, with the largest number being young people from Haryana. It is unfortunate that these young people are being sent back to Haryana in shackles, like prisoners,” Hooda said.
He said many of these youths had left the country out of desperation. “These young people had gone to the US due to unemployment. They had even sold their property and homes to get there. Each young person spent Rs 50 to Rs 60 lakh to reach the US, but now they are suddenly being sent back,” he said.
Hooda accused the BJP, which has ruled Haryana for 11 years, of failing to provide jobs within the state. “As a result, thousands of families have been completely ruined and burdened with debt,” he said, citing reports that place Haryana among the top states in unemployment and crime.
“Due to lack of investment, employment is not being created and youth are being forced to migrate. Many are now taking the dangerous donkey route to America, going to war-torn Israel, or fighting in the Russia-Ukraine war. This BJP-sponsored unemployment has reached beyond Haryana,” he said, warning that the crisis is also tearing apart the state’s social fabric.
