Hooda unhappy with slow pace of Rohtak projects, sets timeline

Expressing displeasure over delays in development works, Congress MP Deepender Hooda on Friday directed officials to set firm deadlines for all ongoing projects and ensure their timely completion. Chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, he said strict action must be taken against officers showing laxity.

Department-wise schemes were reviewed during the meeting, which was attended by Congress MLAs Bharat Bhushan Batra, Shakuntala Khatak and Balram Dangi. Hooda discussed key issues related to Rohtak’s development and offered necessary guidance to officials.

“The last DISHA meeting fixed deadlines for various projects, yet most remain pending, which is completely unacceptable,” he said, instructing departments to finish all pending works before the next meeting.

Calling for priority resolution of complaints related to electricity, water, sanitation, law and order, broken roads and road widening, Hooda heard several grievances on the spot and directed immediate action. He expressed surprise that even after 11 years, there is still no paved road to Meham Railway Station.

“It is shameful that one and a half kilometres of the station remain unconnected. In 2012, I secured approval for the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi rail line and the project was initiated by the then Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge. Since the BJP government took over in 2014, neither metro work nor new rail lines have been built in Haryana,” he said.

Hooda also highlighted that no cuts have been constructed for major villages like Chiri and Jindran on the Rohtak-Jind Highway, despite repeated protests from residents. He asked the Deputy Commissioner to present the current status of HSIDC-allocated plots for farmers in the next meeting.

Alleging discrimination against the Rohtak Lok Sabha constituency in development projects, Hooda expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work and directed officials to ensure timely execution of all approved projects.
