Director of Research Ramesh Goyal, MHU Registrar and EO Suresh Saini welcomed the VC before the inauguration. The VC extended gratitude to the engineering wing for constructing a superior building. He said resources at MHU were rapidly increasing, and so were their responsibilities. “The identity of any university is shaped by its research activities. Due to lack of resources, we were unable to conduct certain research, but now we will be able to. The university lacked laboratories, which hindered the progress of research work. Now, these have been established here and research activities will now proceed swiftly, directly benefiting farmers and rural areas,” he said.

The VC urged scientists to advance their research efforts diligently, create plans identifying necessary resources, and strive to disseminate as much technical knowledge as possible. This will not only increase farmers’ income but also ensure high-quality production. He emphasised that scientists should thoroughly examine soil health, manage facilities for testing soil fertility as well as the availability of microorganisms. “If successful, MHU will be the first university in the country to achieve this feat,” he said.

He said the state government is rapidly addressing MHU’s needs, and therefore it is their responsibility to fulfil the objectives for which Haryana’s first horticulture university was established. Every employee, officer and staff member should contribute fully to achieving these objectives. He announced that monitoring meetings will be held every 15 days to review progress and address shortcomings.

The new building is an extension of the existing educational block. It includes five laboratories, a machine lab, four lecture halls for undergraduate degrees, five lecture halls for postgraduate degrees, a staff room, and other facilities.
