Sirsa, september 1
A heated argument broke out on Saturday between private hospital owners and vegetable vendors near the railway overbridge on the Hisar road. The hospital owners raised concerns about the lack of space due to the nearby vegetable market. They claimed that it often led to delays in emergency care, sometimes resulting in the death of critically ill patients inside ambulances.
The doctors argued that they did not want to displace the vegetable vendors but suggested that the market’s perimeter grills be moved 10 ft inward. This adjustment would allow the ambulances to pass through more easily without disrupting the vendors’ business.
On Saturday, the local administration sent an earthmoving machine and a tractor-trailer to the site to reposition the grills. However, the vendors quickly gathered and opposed the move, accusing the hospital owners of trying to push them out of the place for the past three years. They stated that over 500 families relied on the market for their livelihood.
In response to the situation, BJP leader Gobind Kanda was called to the scene by the vendors. After hearing their concerns, Kanda ordered the eartmoving machine and tractor-trailer to leave the area without making any changes.
The doctors said the market caused significant traffic problems, as customers parked their vehicles haphazardly while shopping. Additionally, discarded vegetables attracted stray animals, leading to frequent accidents.
The doctors have repeatedly informed the district administration about these problems and emphasised that moving the grills would resolve the issues for both parties. They urged politicians to consider both sides of the problem seriously.
