The Vidhan Sabha today passed three bills: Haryana Backward Classes Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2025; Haryana Legislative Assembly (Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members) Amendment Bill, 2025; and Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Deficient Areas Outside Municipal Area (Special Provisions) Amendment Bill, 2025.
The Backward Classes commission Bill allows more functions for the commission. It can now “investigate and examine” the working of various safeguards provided in the Constitution or under any law or any order of the state government for the “welfare and protection of the Backward Classes.”
With the passage of the legislative Assembly Bill, the cap of Rs 1 lakh on the special travelling allowance of the MLAs has been removed. Now, they are entitled to an allowance of Rs 10,000 per month.
Despite opposition from the Congress, the amenities Bill was passed, which will allow the provision of basic civic amenities and infrastructure for illegal industrial colonies.
