Karnal, August 19
The government should dissolve the existing committee of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) by August 31 and hold the elections by November 1, said Jagdish Singh Jhinda, former HSGMC president (ad-hoc), and president of the Haryana Shiromani Panthak Akali Dal.
He threatened that he would hold a Sikh convention in Karnal on September 1 if it failed to agree to these demands.
While interacting with mediapersons at Sheeshganj Gurdwara in Taraori, Jhinda along with state youth president of the Haryana Shiromani Panthak Akali Dal, Bhupinder Singh Ladi, and other Sikh leaders, raised concerns about the working of the HSGMC.
Jhinda and his supporters, who had played a key role in the formation of the HSGMC, alleged financial irregularities and said a proper inquiry should be conducted.
Bhupinder Singh Ladi demanded that the elections for the HSGMC should be conducted immediately after the Assembly elections. He said the tenure of the present committee was over. Ladi suggested the votes of the Sikh community members should be made at the government level. He threatened that if their demands were not accepted, they would take a big decision.
