HSGMC seeks 10 tickets from BJP for Sikhs
Karnal, August 31
As the Haryana Assembly elections draw near, the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) has urged the ruling BJP to give 10 tickets to Sikhs.
HSGMC president Bhupinder Singh Assandh highlighted the presence of Sikh community on nearly 20 Assembly segments and said that the Sikh community has a considerable number of voters in various constituencies in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat, Faridabad and Sirsa districts.
“Sikh voters have a strong presence in 20 seats. We are asking for 10 of these to give representation to our community,” said Assandh. He expressed concern that Sikhs in Haryana were being used merely as a vote bank without granting them political rights.
“We are hopeful that the BJP will consider our request and provide 10 seats to Sikh candidates,” said Assandh.
