The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) started on Wednesday, July 30, with the Level-3 exam for postgraduate teachers (PGT). The exam was held from 3 pm to 5:30 pm at 21 centres in the city. Out of 6,360 registered candidates, 5,564 of them appeared for the exam. The security arrangements were very tight throughout the exam process.
The entry of candidates began at 12:50 pm and a large number of women participated in the exam. At the Government National College exam centre, some candidates arrived even after the scheduled time of 2 pm. Due to slow checking, long queues were formed outside the centre.
Eventually, the authorities allowed all waiting candidates inside and then closed the gates. The candidates came not only from Haryana but also from other states such as Rajasthan to take the exam.
Strict checking was carried out at all centres. women candidates had to remove items such as rubber bands, bangles, earrings and nose pins before entering the exam hall. At the Government National College, biometric verification faced some technical issues, causing a slight delay in the entry process. Police officials, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police and Women Inspectors, visited the exam centres to oversee the security arrangements.
During the exam, moments of family support were seen outside the exam centres. For example, Sandeep from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, came with his wife Sonu for the exam and was seen taking care of their children outside the centre. Similarly, a husband from Odhan was seen looking after their child while his wife appeared for the exam.
