Human rights official visits Nari Niketan
Kuldeep Jain, a member of the state Human Rights Commission, on Thursday visited Nari Niketan and an observation home for girls in the city.
He interacted with inmates as well as faculty members of both institutions.
Jain also inspected the facilities being provided to inmates at the new building of Nari Niketan, and inquired about the under-construction building of the observation home.
Encouraging them to maintain discipline and utilise their time productively, Jain asked them to set goals and focus to achieve it.
He motivated them to participate in various skill development and extracurricular activities.
Emphasising the importance of education, he exhorted them to continue their studies for a bright future.
Meanwhile, the issue of shortage of staff was highlighted. Later, he visited a library, video-conferencing room and a computer lab.
During his visit, he appreciated the inmates for involving themselves in skill development.
Nari Niketan Superintendent Sandhya, Protection-cum-Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Bhanu Gaur and Protection Officer (Institutional Care) Suman Nain were among those present at the event.
