Husband blackmails wife, FIR filed in Sirsa

In a shocking incident in Sirsa, a woman has filed an FIR against her husband for blackmailing her with an intimate video taken without her consent. The victim, employed with the Railway Department, got married to Shekhar, a worker at the Electricity Corporation, in November 2023.

According to the woman’s complaint, just three months after their marriage, Shekhar secretly recorded an intimate video in their bedroom and began threatening her to make it viral. He used this video to blackmail her, forcing her to take a personal loan of Rs 5 lakh from her salary account. He also allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from her.

The victim claimed that her husband started harassing her for dowry shortly after their marriage, and she tolerated the abuse in the hope that he would change. However, despite her efforts to reason with him, the harassment continued, leading her to file a police complaint.

The local Women’s Police Station has registered an FIR against the husband, with preliminary investigations indicating threats, harassment and physical abuse. But, no evidence of the alleged video has been presented yet. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
