Identify accident-prone sites, DC to RTA, traffic police officials
Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta has asked officials of Regional Transport Authority and Traffic Police to identify new black spots and accident-prone places to reduce road accidents in the district.
He constituted a committee under the chairmanship of chief executive officer of Zila Parishad Virender Singh Dhull to inspect the black spots in the district and submit the report within a week.
The committee included DSP Traffic Police, Secretary of RTA, officers of National Highway Authority, PWD B&R and member of State Road Safety Committee Sushil Arya.
Presiding over the meeting of the District Road Safety Committee in Yamunanagar, he asked the officers to ensure at least 20 per cent reduction in road accidents.
He gave necessary guidelines to the officers of departments concerned regarding road safety and traffic rules, so that road accidents could be reduced and lives of people could be saved.
He further said that the officers of the departments concerned should ensure that youths did not drive vehicles after consuming alcohol.
In the meeting, he gave instructions to check school buses on time from the point of view of safety.
He said that the safety fund should be spent on safety measures by forming a committee in a planned manner.
The Deputy Commissioner discussed the Safe School Vehicle Policy in the meeting.
He said that when a person loses his life in a road accident, his family has to face challenges throughout life.
He instructed the officials to repair traffic lights and street lights on main roads as soon as possible.
