If BJP gives me ticket, I am ready to contest, says Kapoor Narwal

After the ticket was given to the sitting MLA in Baroda constituency, Kapoor Singh Narwal resigned from the Congress. On Sunday, Narwal announced that if BJP would give him the ticket, he was ready to contest the Assembly elections.

Narwal was in touch with the BJP after leaving the Congress and was hopeful of getting a ticket.

Another dissident meets supporters

  • Narwal met leaders at the state BJP office in Rohtak, after which he called a meeting of his supporters at his residence and asked for their support.
  • In Samalkha, another dissident Shashi Kant Kaushik held a meeting with his supporters at Chulkana Dham.

Narwal addressed a huge gathering on Sunday at his residence and sought a promise from them to support him if he contested the election if the BJP gave him the ticket. He refused to contest elections as an Independent.

As many as 32 aspirants applied for tickets from the Congress, of which, three prominent candidates were sitting MLA Induraj Narwal, Dr Kapoor Narwal and Jitender, alias Jita Hooda.

After the Congress declared the tickets of the sitting MLAs, Dr Kapoor Narwal left the Congress on Saturday.

He also met the BJP leaders on Saturday at the state BJP office in Rohtak. After that he called a meeting of his supporters at his residence on Sunday and asked for their support. The supporters assured him that they would support him whether he got the ticket from any other party or contested as an independent.

In Samalkha, another dissident Shashi Kant Kaushik held a meeting with his supporters at Chulkana Dham on Sunday. A large number of his supporters gathered there and assured him that they would support him. Kaushik said the final decision to contest the election would be taken on September 11.

Kaushik said he was not hurt by the BJP as the party had given him the ticket twice and would not leave it. The issue is only about the candidate, not that of the party, he said.
