Illegal casino busted, 12 held

Faridabad, September 1

The police busted an illegal casino and arrested 12 persons, including two women from Delhi, for gambling at a hotel in the NIT area here. The hotel was raided following a tip-off. The police seized 101 casino play cards valued at Rs 1.03 lakh and 1,470 gambling chips worth Rs 7.35 lakh from the accused. The main accused said he had been running the casino at different spots. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
