The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has intensified its efforts to combat illegal encroachments across the city. As part of a recent enforcement drive, unauthorised structures along the green belts, footpaths and master roads of sectors 81 to 95 were demolished.
The drive follows numerous complaints from citizens about rampant encroachment along the master sector roads of these sectors.
In response to the complaints, DTP GMDA RS Batth, along with officers from the Enforcement Wing and 50 police personnel, conducted a major operation along the master dividing road of sectors 92 and 95. During the operation, 10 shanties, a restaurant, a dhaba, a kabadi shop, a water tank and an illegal paved parking spot were demolished. Several landowners were present at the site and requested time to remove household items and materials that had been illegally stored on government land. DTP GMDA instructed the violators to clear the 84-meter-wide sector road in these areas, which is officially acquired and remove all encroachments.
Additionally, it was discovered that some locals had set up temporary hutments and were charging rent to the inhabitants. GMDA issued strict orders to dismantle these unauthorised huts and prevent the installation of vending carts along the roads.
“GMDA Enforcement Wing will reach each and every corner of Gurugram to clear encroachments and keep the city clean. Complaints received from the public on the CM Window Portal and other platforms will be treated with top priority and strict action will be taken on the ground,” said Batth.
Recently, the GMDA cleared over 60 acres of green belts along the Southern Peripheral Road to ensure safe traffic movement.
