Illegal jhuggis razed in Gurugram’s Sector 29
In a joint action taken by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Haryana Shehari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) against encroachments in Sector 29, over 150 unauthorised jhuggis adjoining Leisure Valley Park have been demolished.
Following this, a team, led by the GMDA DTP-cum-nodal officer for encroachments in Gurugram, R S Batth, reached the booth market in Sector 29 — where the shopkeepers had encroached upon the public area — and removed three illegal shops and cleared the public area. The encroachments were removed with the help of the police force and the HSVP team.
Additionally, they also acted against rampant illegal parking of buses, which were parked on space allocated for visitors’ parking. Challans were also issued and the garages developed within the parking area have also been demolished. DTP Baath said violations would invite strict action.
“Sector 29 is amongst the central locations of Gurugram and the Leisure Valley Park is one of the important landmarks of the city. Comprehensive efforts of agencies will continue in same manner and I direct all offenders to stop any such activity,” said DTP Batth.
GMDA CEO Shyamal Misra has also directed the DTP to keep a strict vigil and take strong action against all such encroachments in important areas of Gurugram. He also directed him to ensure that the park and its facilities were maintained for the benefit of the public. Issues pertaining to Sector 29 were also raised at various platform by Gurugram-based advocate Ravinder Jain, who is a member of the District Grievance Committee.
