Illegal mining: 30 vehicles challaned, Rs 2.96 lakh fine imposed in Yamunanagar

Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining, unauthorised transportation of minerals and overloading, the district administration teams have issued challans to 30 vehicle owners, imposing a total fine of Rs 2.96 lakh.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said as per the instructions of Director General of Mines and Geology Department, KM Pandurang, the Mining Department, police and other local administration teams are actively monitoring and taking strict action against violators.

"Monitoring is being done to stop illegal mining in areas falling under Yamuna and other places. Besides, teams appointed by the district administration are checking vehicles to prevent illegal transportation and overloading of mining minerals," said Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta.

The administration's teams checked 1,392 vehicles, of which several were found violating regulations. The SDM Chhachhrauli & Regional Transport Authority, Yamunanagar checked 726 vehicles, issued six challans and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000. The SDM Jagadhri's team checked 190 vehicles, issued 12 challans and levied fines worth Rs 1.77 lakh. The SDM Radaur's team checked 326 vehicles, issued six challans with Rs 19,000 in penalties. The SDM Vyaspur's team checked 150 vehicles, issued six challans and imposed fines of Rs 60,000.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta reiterated that strict monitoring will continue to curb illegal mining. He also emphasised that e-transit passes (e-ravanas) are being thoroughly checked, ensuring that no vehicle transports mining minerals without proper authorisation.
