The district police have booked four persons on charges of carrying out illegal mining, assaulting government officials, damaging government property and obstructing government work in Sohla Aravalli area here on the complaint of a forest official.
In his complaint, Chander Gupt said during a routine patrol on Sunday, his team found illegal mining activities involving a JCB and three tractor trailers in the Sohla Aravali area. “Upon attempting to stop the JCB and tractor drivers, they attempted to harm the officials and collided with a government jeep parked on the road, damaging its rear portion. Later, the perpetrators managed to flee with the JCB and tractor trailers. We promptly contacted the police by dialling 112 and also informed Satnali police station via telephone,” he said.
The complainant said the accused had been identified as Surendra, Sandeep, Pawan and Sanjay. Surendra had previously been fined for illegal mining and his tractor trailer had been seized.
The police have registered a case under various Sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita and the Mines and Minerals (Regulations and Development) Act.
