Illegal mining detected in Mahendragarh villages, FIRs lodged
The district administration has detected illegal mining of gravel in Mausampur and Biharipur villages under the Nangal Choudhary areas here. Acting swiftly, a first information report has been lodged against those indulging in this illegal trade.
The illegal mining came to the fore when a joint team of officials from various departments recently carried out a surprise inspection of the villages following the instructions of higher authorities of the Mines Department and Deputy Commissioner Vivek Bharti. Local people had been found involved in this illegal act.
“A recovery notice of Rs 1.49 lakh has been issued to vehicle owners for their involvement in illegal mining in Sohla village area. An FIR has already been registered into the matter. Similarly, a penalty of Rs 3.2 lakh has been imposed on a truck owner who was caught illegally transporting mining materials on February 14,” said an official.
Meanwhile, Nangal Choudhary SDM Manoj Kumar -- along with officials of Haryana State Pollution Control Board, Mining and Police Department -- today carried out surprise inspections of mineral mines in the Bayal area to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
The SDM emphasised that illegal mining would not be tolerated in the area. Surprise inspections were being conducted to prevent this illegal act and to discourage those involved in it. He appealed to the local people to refrain from illegal mining and cooperate with authorities to curb it.
In Dostpur village, Block Development and Panchayat Officer Renu Lata and the Mining Officer began possession actions to remove illegal encroachments along the Rajasthan border following a measurement process.
The district administration continues to crack down on the mining mafia. In the past two-and-a-half months, the district authorities have seized 50 vehicles involved in this illegal trade.
