Illegal mining: Vehicle impounded, owners fined

In connection with illegal mining, a team of the district administration led by Jagadhri SDM Sonu Ram impounded a vehicle and imposed a fine of Rs 4.26 lakh on owners of the vehicle.

The teams checked 2,045 vehicles in Yamunanagar district last night. Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said the Haryana Government was taking strict action against those involved in illegal mining, illegal transportation of mining minerals and overloading.

He said the teams were formed at various levels for regular monitoring. He further said the administration was committed to curbing illegal mining, illegal transportation of mining minerals and overloading in the district and continuous efforts were being made in this direction.

“Following the directions of the Director-General, Mines and Geology Department, KM Pandurang, the teams are continuously taking action against those involved in illegal mining activities in the district,” said Gupta. He said 1,273 vehicles were checked by the teams led by the SDM, Chhachhrauli.

He further said the teams working under the Jagadhri SDM checked 264 vehicles and impounded one vehicle imposing a fine of Rs 4.26 lakh on the owners of the vehicle.
