Implementing zero-tolerance policy against corruption in all civic bodies: Haryana ULB Minister

Chandigarh, February 26

Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kamal Gupta said over the past nine years, a zero-tolerance policy against corruption was being implemented by the government in all civic bodies, including the Rewari municipal council.

Gupta was responding to a question asked by MLA Chiranjeev Rao during the Budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. The minister said a helpline numbers (1800-180-2022/1064) had been set up for registering complaints in all municipalities.

Sterilisation of dogs with no results and a road sweeping machine that needed repair without being used were some instances Rao pointed out, asking where was zero tolerance to corruption.

Haryana Environment, Forests and Wildlife Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar said to reduce pollution in the Yamuna, and consequently, in Gurugram Canal, 62 sewage treatment plants (STPs) of 1,129 MLD had been installed. Of these, 22 STPs had been installed during the past five years.

In addition, 16 STPs were being upgraded and eight STPs were being constructed. Further, five new STPs of 410 MLD capacity had been approved. He was replying to a question by Congress MLA Aftab Ahmed, who pointed out that contaminated water had resulted in cancer-related deaths in two villages of Nuh.

Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Devender Singh Babli said renovation work was underway in an existing building at Garhi Ruthal village to open a Mahila Sanskriti Kendra. The tendering process for materials/equipment was also going on and once the tender was finalised, the kendra would be opened.

Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala revealed that on NH-44 in Panipat, roads on elevated highways had been constructed, and entry and exit points would be made on roads leading to Assandh, Safidon and Shamli. A letter had been written to the Centre for permission. Once approval was granted, the entry-exit points would be established soon. The Deputy CM was responding to a question raised by MLA Pramod Vij.
