In a yr, 964 stray cattle caught in Yamunanagar

With an aim to make the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri cattle-free, the municipal corporation has caught 964 stray cattle in the past one year.

The cattle have been tagged and sent to various gaushalas in the district.

Under the drive, two teams of the MC caught 11 stray cattle from the Farakpur area, Jagadhri sabzi mandi and Old Hamida Colony on Saturday. A team, led by Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Sunil Dutt, caught five stray cattle from Farakpur (Ward 18).

The team also caught three stray cattle from Old Hamida Colony. Another team, led by CSI Harjeet Singh, caught three stray cattle from the Jagadhri sabzi mandi.

Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha said the drive would continue until every stray cattle in the twin cities was caught.

Residents should take photos of stray cattle roaming in areas under the jurisdiction of the MC, and send them to 7082410524 on WhatsApp, along with the location, he added.

He said, after getting information, an MC team would reach the spot and catch the stray cattle.

“If anyone leaves a cow in the open, a fine of Rs 5,100 will be imposed on him,” Sinha said.

“If a tagged cattle is found in the open again, the operator of the gaushala concerned will be fined,” he added.
