In Kaithal, Aditya takes Surjewala legacy forward
In Kaithal district, Aditya Surjewala, son of Congress MP Randeep Surjewala, and Vikas Saharan, son of Hisar MP Jai Parkash, have won their debut electoral battle. The Congress regained its hold on Guhla seat with its candidate Devender Hans ending up the victor.
Aditya Surjewala won the seat by a margin of 8,124 votes. Surjewala secured 83,744 votes while BJP candidate and former MLA Leela Ram got 75,620 votes. Aditya’s victory is a major boost for the Congress, re-establishing the Surjewala family’s political influence in the constituency.
Similarly, Vikas Saharan, Congress candidate from Kalayat, triumphed with 48,142 votes, defeating BJP’s Kamlesh Dhanda by 13,419 votes. Dhanda garnered 34,723 votes. Saharan’s victory marks a significant step in reviving his family’s political prominence in Kalayat. His father Jai Parkash had won the seat as an Independent from this seat in 2014.
In Guhla, Congress candidate Devender Hans secured a decisive victory by a margin of 22,880 votes. Hans got 64,611 votes and defeated BJP candidate Kulwant Bazigar, who got 41,731 votes. This victory signals Congress’ resurgence in Guhla.
In Pundri, BJP candidate Satpal Jamba won the seat narrowly by 2,197 votes. Jamba got 42,805 votes, while Congress rebel and Independent candidate Satbir Bhana finished second with 40,608 votes. Congress candidate Sultan Jadola secured third position with 26,341 votes.
