Indri MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap and Mayor Renu Bala Gupta on Tuesday jointly inaugurated the strengthening work of internal roads and rainwater drainage system in Ward 2, Managalpur colony. The project, costing about Rs 54.73 lakh, is expected to be completed within three months. Ward councillor Baby Pal, municipal engineers, and prominent people of the ward were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the inauguration, Kashyap said the project would make commuting easier for Mangalpur residents and ensure proper drainage of rainwater. He said no citizen would be deprived of basic facilities, as the government remains committed to providing better infrastructure across both urban and rural areas.
He further said as part of the “Sewa Pakhwada” being observed across Haryana to mark the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, several initiatives such as cleanliness drives, blood donation camps, tree plantation, and road strengthening works were being carried out.
From September 25, the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana will also be launched, under which women from families with an annual income below Rs 1 lakh will receive a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,100. Kashyap also said the Central Government’s decision to reduce GST slabs to two has already started benefitting people across the country.
Gupta, in her address, said strong roads and streets were vital for local development and would significantly improve the quality of life for the residents. She stressed the importance of transparency, pointing out that every project site displayed a board with detailed information about the work. She appealed to the residents to monitor the work closely and report any shortcomings to engineers or councillors so that corrections could be made promptly.
She said development projects were going on in full swing across Karnal, benefitting both city and rural residents with essential facilities as well as large-scale projects. Referring to Sewa Pakhwada, the Mayor said civic engagement was equally important and that activities such as sanitation campaigns, awareness drives and blood donation camps were being organised daily.
