In Sirsa, Chindalia campaigns for chairman seat, wife Savitri for councillor
The municipal elections in Sirsa are witnessing an interesting situation where a husband and wife are both contesting separate seats. Savitri Devi is running for the councillor post in Ward1, while her husband, Ashok Chindalia, is campaigning for the chairman seat. Interestingly, Ashok is seeking votes across the city but is also requesting voters in Ward1 to support both his and his wife’s candidacy.
Seven candidates are competing for the chairman’s post in Sirsa. The contenders include Shanti Swaroop Valmiki from BJP, Jaswinder Kaur from Congress, Praveen Kumar (Lucky Chaudhary) from JJP, Omprakash from INLD, Kavita Nagar from the Aam Aadmi Party, Ashok Chindalia as an Independent candidate, and Rajendra Kumar. This makes for a highly competitive race for the top seat.
In addition, Amit Soni, a close associate of Ashok Tanwar, is contesting the councillor post in Ward 20. His wife, Neetu Soni, is running for the councillor’s seat in Ward 21, a position she had previously held. Neetu Soni is familiar to the voters in her area, having served as the councillor in the past.
Ward 31 has seen a rebellious turn for the BJP. Former councillor Renu Bala, who was denied a ticket by the party this time, has decided to contest as an Independent candidate. The decision has added another layer of competition in the election, especially since Renu Bala had a strong presence in her previous term.
Meanwhile, Praveen Kumar, known as Lucky Chaudhary, is contesting for the chairman’s post on behalf of the Jananayak Janata Party (JJP). Lucky Chaudhary has been actively campaigning in various parts of the city. He has assured voters that if elected, he would prioritise the beautification of the city and ensure equal development across all wards. He believes that with the support of the people, he will work to make Sirsa a better place to live.
In support of the BJP’s campaign, leader Pradeep Ratusaria addressed the public, highlighting the achievements of the Haryana Government under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership. Ratusaria mentioned that the government has already fulfilled 18 promises in the first 100 days of their term and is working on fulfilling the remaining ones. He also urged the voters to support the BJP to ensure continued development in Sirsa, the state, and the country.
The municipal elections in Sirsa, scheduled for March 2, are set to be an intense battle, with many political figures competing for key positions.
