In special drive, challans issued to 219 drivers in Yamunanagar

The Yamunanagar district police have issued challans to 219 drivers for allegedly violating traffic rules.

The teams of the district police issued these challans conducting a special drive across the district from September 29 to October 5, 2025 to ensure road safety.

The drive was launched against drunk driving, wrong-lane driving, bullet cracker, pressure horn and other traffic rules.

Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesman said the drive was launched on the directions of Director-General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur and under the leadership of Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. “It is common to see many drivers driving under the influence of liquor and other narcotics substances at night, endangering themselves and other road users,” said Chamkaur Singh.

He said taking strict action, the district police issued 186 challans for wrong-lane driving, four challans for noise pollution and 29 challans for drunk driving.

Kushal Pal Rana, SHO, traffic police station, said the Superintendent of Police had instructed SHOs of all police stations of the district to strictly enforce traffic rules to ensure road safety.

“As a result of the drive, the district police issued challans to drivers found guilty of drunk driving and traffic violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. The primary objective of this drive was to crack down on those who drive under the influence of liquor and other narcotics and disobey traffic rules,” said Kushal Pal Rana. SP Kamaldeep Goyal said the Yamunanagar district police was continuously conducting awareness campaigns to educate people about the importance of following traffic rules.

He appealed to the drivers not to drive under the influence of liquor or

other narcotics.

He also appealed to them to protect their own lives and the lives of other people by following traffic rules.
