In two months, 2,000 caught jumping red light in Gurugram

Jumping red light continues to be a menace in the city with over 2,000 vehicles caught on camera violating the traffic norm over two months.

Traffic officials say over 20,000 challans have been issued since January.

“Cameras and e-challaning are helping us keep a check on traffic violations,” said Sanjeev Balhara, ACP, Traffic.

Gurugram is progressing towards coming completely under CCTV surveillance and has so far been equipped with cameras at all major roundabouts and city points.

“The key reason behind aggressive e-challaning is creating awareness on traffic rules. It also acts as a deterrent when cops are not around. Commuters need to follow traffic rules in order to prevent mishaps. We appeal to people to be aware and follow the traffic rules,” added Balhara.
