Inderjeet Yadav lambasts BJP for hypocrisy over criminal charges
Dr Inderjeet Yadav, an independent mayoral candidate from Manesar, has hit back at the BJP for targeting her over her husband’s past as a gangster. Yadav accused the party of hypocrisy, pointing out their support for individuals with criminal records, while they try to discredit her.
In response to the ongoing campaign by local BJP candidate Sunder Lal Yadav and statements from Forest Minister Rao Narbir, Yadav said, “I have no criminal cases against me. My husband was involved in gang activities nearly 10 years ago, but there have been no active cases against him for the past seven years. The same party that preaches the values of the Ramayana seems to forget the story of Valmiki. While they’ve been inactive in Manesar for the last decade, we’ve been on the ground, solving people’s problems — getting roads resurfaced, repairing gaushalas and lifting garbage. Now, in fear of defeat, they’ve started targeting us. We challenge both Narbir and Sunder Lal to engage in an open debate to compare our achievements with theirs over the
past 10 years.”
Yadav highlighted the BJP’s support for individuals with criminal backgrounds, citing the case of Krishan Pehalwan, the current MLA from Nazafgarh, Delhi and Rajesh Sarkari, the Zila Parishad Chairman from Rohtak, both of whom have criminal cases but received BJP tickets.
Similarly, Barkha Sharma, an independent candidate from Ward 24, also criticised BJP candidate Aarti Yadav, whose husband is allegedly facing active criminal charges. “BJP claims to be against criminals running the show, but they have given tickets to individuals with active cases. In fact, it’s BJP candidate Aarti Yadav’s husband who is leading her campaign, aspiring to become the ‘Councillor pati’,” added Sharma.
