Aimed at enhancing sports infrastructure, Karnal Smart City Ltd. (KSCL), is set to construct a state-of-the-art indoor volleyball complex with a shooting range in Kambopura. Earlier, it was a village, which is now part of the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC), after its elevation to a corporation.

Haryana Assembly Speaker and Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vaishali Sharma and other officials two days ago and asked them to expedite the process of starting the work on this project.

“The sports complex will boost the sports infrastructure in the area. It will also encourage sports enthusiasts to participate in volleyball, basketball and shooting,” said the DC.

The DC highlighted the success of the Astroturf hockey stadium on Kailash-Kunjpura Road, and said under the Smart City project, the Astroturf hockey stadium was constructed and now a large number of hockey players were getting benefits from the sports facility.

“Our aim is to provide similar world-class facilities to sportspersons in this complex,” he added.

Ramphal, General Manager of the KSCL, said, “The location of the complex along the national highway will provide easy access to athletes and visitors. Sportspersons will get modern facilities to nurture their talent,” he added.
