Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the industry was considered the government’s biggest revenue and employment source, but never got the much-needed attention in Haryana.

Mann was addressing a gathering of traders and industrialists here on Sunday. During the event, traders asked him questions, shared their problems and gave suggestions. Mann said he wondered why traders brought bags with money to political parties during elections. “The money symbolises prosperity, but traders don’t like the parties’ agendas. They bring the money merely to avoid harassment if the party wins. The governments should not harass, but facilitate,” he said.

He further said issues faced by traders were not unique to Haryana as similar problems were previously seen in Punjab and Delhi, and were now being seen in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

When he invited Punjab’s traders, they revealed so many problems that despite the existence of a single-window system, there were multiple windows within it, he said. “Consequently, Punjab implemented a single-window, single-pen system, aiming for work to start and end with the same pen. Policies were formulated based on traders’ suggestions,” Mann added.

He stated that AAP was providing free electricity in Delhi and Punjab, so why this couldn’t be done in Haryana. A new story needs to be written in Haryana, like in Delhi and Punjab, he said.

Anurag Dhanda, senior state vice-president, AAP, said the purpose of the discussion was to demonstrate AAP’s approach to creating a favorable environment for traders and its plans for Haryana.

State needs new engine

Ambala: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said Haryana needed a new engine (AAP), not the double-engine government (BJP government in Centre and state). He said both Delhi and Punjab had AAP governments, providing free electricity and opening new hospitals, but Haryana was lagging in these aspects.

“Haryana’s people have repeatedly given chances to Congress, BJP and INLD, but there has been no improvement. Just as Delhi and Punjab found a engine for progress, Haryana needs a new engine as well. Over the past 78 years, previous governments have only increased people’s difficulties,” said Mann. He told the gathering that AAP was a strong third option available to them.

Punjab CM and senior state vice-president of the party Anurag Dhanda were addressing a ‘Badlav Jan Sabha’ in Naraingarh town of Ambala district on Sunday.

They were accompanied by state vice-president Gurpal Singh, Om Prakash Gujjar, Surendra Singh Rathi, Karanveer Singh Laut, Ranjeet Uppal, Rohit Jain and Laxman Vinayak.
