After being out of power for over 20 years and falling to the political margins post its 2018 split, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is now trying to rebuild its base in Haryana. The party has started reconnecting with its grassroots and is working hard to bring back old members while attracting new supporters.

In Sirsa district alone, the party is forming 16 different wings, out of which 12 have already been set up. As many as 5,000 new members have been added through these committees. Over the last 10 days, the INLD has been announcing one or two new wings every day. By next week, the party aims to complete and announce all committee formations.

INLD’s national president Abhay Singh Chautala said the party was following the vision of late Om Prakash Chautala, who believed in the motto “One Booth, 10 Youth.” Abhay said the INLD was building teams at the grassroots by creating zones for every 10 booths and appointing zonal in-charges. He also claimed that the BJP copied this idea from the INLD and renamed it as “Panna Pramukh.”

He added that the party values both experience and youth, and is giving young people chances to grow. Responsibilities are being given based on dedication and skills, not background or connections.

INLD’s Sirsa district president Jasbir Singh Jassa shared that many district-level wings had already been formed. These include the general body, women’s wing, SC cell, BC cell, farmers’ cell, traders’ cell, intellectual cell, ex-employees’ cell, legal cell, doctors’ cell, minority cell, and taprivas cell, among others.

Jassa said the goal is to complete the formation of all 16 district-level committees and also set up similar sub-committees at the local level without delay. He emphasised that the party was now focused on making the upcoming rally on September 25 marking the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Devi Lal- a historic success. He claimed this rally would be the INLD’s biggest so far and could shift the political mood of the state.

JJP ramps up

membership drive

The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) has also launched an aggressive membership drive in Haryana. JJP’s national president Dr Ajay Singh Chautala said the party’s statewide membership campaign was already 90per cent complete. He expressed full confidence that the JJP would not only meet but exceed its target within the given timeframe. Once the membership drive concludes, the party will focus on expanding its organisational structure at the state level. Across Haryana, the JJP is targeting a total of 5 lakh new members. In Sirsa, JJP district president Ashok Verma stated that the party planned to connect 5,000 new members from each Assembly constituency. Verma added that JJP had already begun forming key committees at the district level, including the backward cell, women’s cell, SC cell, and farmers’ cell. The appointment of their officials and members will be completed soon. He also mentioned that the party was actively spreading awareness about its policies and vision among the people.
