The INLD today announced to hold a ‘symbolic dharna’ on the Punjab-Haryana border on May 25 if Haryana’s quota of 9,000 cusecs was not released by Punjab from the Bhakra Main Canal.
Alleging that only 5,000 cusecs was being released by Punjab, as against its quota of 9,000 cusecs, INLD national president Abhay Chautala said vehicles with Punjab registration number would be stopped on May 25 as a mark of protest. “If Haryana’s quota of 9,000 cusecs is not released, the INLD would start an indefinite dharna on the Punjab-Haryana border from June 1,” he warned.
Chautala was talking to the media here after the meeting of the INLD national executive.
Earlier, a delegation of the party met the Haryana Governor and submitted a memorandum, demanding the restoration of pre-2022 regime in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), completion of the SYL Canal and release of the state’s full water quota.
