Simran Singh, a 25-year-old freelance radio jockey and Instagram influencer from Jammu and Kashmir, was found dead in her rented apartment in Sector 47, Gurugram, late Wednesday night. Known affectionately as “Jammu Ki Dhadkan” (heartbeat of Jammu) by her fans, she had amassed a following of 682,000 on Instagram. Her last post was a cheerful reel shared on December 13.
The discovery of her body came after a friend, who was also staying with her, alerted the police when Simran failed to respond after locking herself inside her room. Upon arrival at the scene around 9.30 pm, officers managed to open the door and found her hanging. No suicide note was recovered at the location. Following a postmortem examination, the body was handed over to her family.
According to police reports, Simran had been living in the apartment for several months with friends. A senior police officer indicated while the initial investigation points towards suicide, further inquiries are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Family members expressed concerns about her wellbeing prior to this tragic event; however, they have not filed any formal complaints regarding foul play.
As news of her death spread, tributes poured in on social media from fans and followers who were shocked by the sudden loss of such a vibrant personality. The police continue to investigate the matter as they await further details.
