Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena while holding the monthly meeting of the District Road Safety Committee on Friday, said NOCs had been issued for installing CCTV cameras around Brahma Sarovar and at its entrances, and the responsibility of installing these cameras was entrusted to the municipal council. The council would prepare a detailed plan and send it to the government so that the cameras could be installed at the earliest.

At the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials to complete the work of installing white stripes and reflector tapes on all roads before the foggy season. Instructions were also issued to complete the pending work related to the repair of roads and other road safety-related works.

Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said a plan will be prepared to construct a flyover in front of Pipli Zoo on NH-44 to address the problem of road accidents and traffic congestion at Pipli Chowk. A meeting will be held soon with the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and other officials concerned to prepare this project.

About the broken grills on the dividing roads on the Kurukshetra-Yamunanagar road in Ladwa, the DC directed the Public Works Department to install new grills at the earliest.

During the road safety meeting, the DC asked the Police Department to take strict action against people violating traffic light rules in the city and issue challans. The police officers will also ensure that the traffic light at Pipli Chowk remains operational all the time and a proposal should be prepared and submitted to the Municipal Council for all areas where red lights or blinkers are to be installed.

He further said to prevent road accidents on NH-44, the NHAI had closed 86 illegal cuts in the Kurukshetra area, but the hotel and dhaba owners were repeatedly breaking the grills and creating illegal cuts. Nearly eight such people were identified. If they continued to violate the rules, the NHAI would also register an FIR.

Directions were also issued to complete the beautification work near Pipli Chowk, and remove encroachments from Railway Road and Panorama Chowk to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the upcoming International Gita Mahotsav. He said the shopkeepers should fulfil their moral responsibility and remove goods lying on the roads. For this, the District Municipal Commissioner has been instructed to convene a meeting of the trade association and other organisations. If the encroachments are still not removed, strict action will be taken against the shopkeepers concerned after issuing notices.
