The state government has clarified that engineering diplomas and degrees awarded by the Institution of Civil Engineers, Ludhiana, after May 31, 2013, were not valid.
In a communication to administrative secretaries, heads of departments and deputy commissioners, the Chief Secretary’s office said the decision had been taken following the orders of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Earlier, the AICTE had ruled that it had decided to “recognise equivalence for all purposes, including higher education and employment, to technical courses conducted by various professional institutions duly recognised by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with permanent recognition up to May 31, 2013”.
“The state government has, therefore, decided that qualifications (diploma/degrees), awarded by the Institution of Civil Engineers, Ludhiana, are valid only for students enrolled up May 31, 2013.”
