With the arrest of eight accused, the police claimed to have busted an inter-district gang of battery thieves. The accused have reportedly admitted to their involvement in 58 such incidents.

The accused have been identified as Sahil of Dalamwala village in Jind, Arjun of Mahavir Colony in Hisar, Rinku of Serda and Bholu of Kharbala in Hisar district. The CIA unit of the district police arrested the accused and seized a car and illegal weapons from their possession. During preliminary investigation, they revealed their involvement in about 17 incidents of theft and two robbery incidents.

The police have taken them on a two-day police remand, during which they disclosed the names of four more associates — Sunny and Pradeep of RK Puram Colony in Murthal and Mukar Singh of Bichpadi village of Panipat and Jarif of Bhainswal. They allegedly bought the stolen goods from them.
