In a major breakthrough, the police have arrested six persons of an inter-state gang of thieves involved in stealing goods from supply vehicles of private companies. The arrests were made in the Dulina police post area. A vehicle used in the crime was also recovered from the suspects.
“During police interrogation, the accused admitted to their involvement in multiple thefts in various districts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. They committed thefts in Rewari, Jhajjar, Gurugram and Karnal, besides Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them in two-day police custody,” said Inspector Vivek Malik, in charge of Jhajjar CIA.
Malik added that Praveen, the branch in charge of Om Logistic at Dadri Toe village, had lodged a complaint on February 27, stating that a vehicle was loaded with dry fruits at the Kundli Barota branch of the company. The following day, the driver reported to the company that he had parked the vehicle near a petrol pump close to Yakubpur village the previous night and had fallen asleep in the vehicle. Upon waking up, he found the rear door of the vehicle open and several boxes of goods missing. Inspector Malik said on receiving the complaint, Praveen, along with company staff, inspected found several boxes stolen. After labourers unloaded the goods, it was found that around 100 boxes had been stolen. A case was registered.
“A thorough investigation was carried out and six persons were arrested from the Dulina area in the case. They had been identified as Bhagwan Das from Sonepat, Mohsin from Hapur, Praveen and Deepak from Meerut, Gaurav from Gautam Buddha Nagar and Bintu from Khekra in Uttar Pradesh,” said Malik.
A spokesman of the district police said the accused had confessed to their involvement in more than half-a-dozen theft cases in Haryana and UP. Among the stolen goods were 27 cartons of LED bulbs from Dharuhera in Rewari, 30 boxes of tea leaves from Meerut, 23 bags of rice from Dujana in Jhajjar, 14 LED bulbs from a Tata Pickup at Kulana, 36 fans from Farukh Nagar and 125 cartons of Castrol bike engine oil from a vehicle in Karnal.
