Inter-state youth exchange event begins at Kurukshetra University

Minister of State for Sports Gaurav Gautam today said the land of Kurukshetra gives the message of ‘dharma’ and ‘karma’, and that the young generation should adopt the message of the Gita in their lives.

He was addressing a gathering on the inaugural day of the three-day inter-state youth exchange programme at Kurukshetra University.

The youth exchange programme is being organised under the aegis of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship and the Department of Skill Development and Industrial Training, Haryana. A carnival parade was organised on the first day of event in which the participants of all 20 states and four UTs participated in the costumes of their respective states.

The minister said, “Lord Krishna had given the sermon of the Gita to the world to follow the path of ‘karma’ during the Mahabharata war in Kurukshetra. The teachings of the Gita are still relevant for the entire world. The youngsters should imbibe the message of Gita in their lives, and play an important role in making India a developed nation by 2047.”

Gautam said that more than 600 participants, who have come here from various states, have got a golden opportunity to reach the holy land of Kurukshetra. A person coming to this holy land gets amazing energy and power. With this energy and power, the youth could play an important role in taking the country forward rapidly. Such programmes provide the youth with a golden opportunity to know the culture, art, costumes and language of other states.

The Sports Minister also visited an exhibition organised by the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB), ITI, Kurukshetra University and other departments.

Principal Secretary Rajiv Ranjan said that the youth exchange programme has given an opportunity to these youngsters to meet one another, and to see and learn about the cultural heritage of other states. In this youth exchange programme, the youth coming from different states have come here as ambassadors of their respective states.

Director, Skill Development and Industrial Training, Haryana, Captain Manoj Kumar said that the three-day event would conclude on July 25 and these youth will also be taken on a tour of the pilgrimage and tourist places of Kurukshetra.

Deputy Commissioner Kurukshetra Neha Singh, Superintendent of Police Nitish Agarwal, KU Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva and several BJP leaders were present on this occasion.
